Did you know that there are Peer Advisors (PAs) and Language Advisors (LAs) hired and specially trained to help you reach your English language goal? Many students are not aware of all the different ways PAs and LAs can help them so we have created a guide of the services we offer here at the SALC. Please come and try them out.
PA Services
PAs can tutor you on speaking, writing and your homework in general. Here are some of the services we provide.
1. Talk Time- Speaking Help
With the PA you can:
-Practice every day English conversation
Choose a topic or a game and just practice speaking with the PAs.
- Prepare for speaking tests
The PAs are well versed in the speaking tests you have in English class and have practice tests they can review with you. They can also listen to you and give you feedback on how you can improve.
-Practice presentations
Practice your presentation and get valuable feedback from the PA
-Practice Speaking section in TOEFL IBT and IELTS practice
Are you preparing for your TOEFL IBT or IELTS? Come practice your speaking part with a trained PA who can give you feedback and tips to improve your speaking score on these tests.
2. Writing Help
With the PA you can:
-Review your essay together
Revising and reviewing your essay for English class is an important part of the process. Come and get feedback and specific ways to improve your essay from the trained PA.
-Brainstorm
Are you stuck on how to even start your essay or what to write about? Come and brainstorm with the PAs.
-Create an Outline
You might have your topic of your essay but you are stuck on what specific details to write. The PA can help you create an outline.
-Prepare for timed writing tests
Even if you don’t know what the timed writing test topic is, you still need to prepare beforehand. With the PA you can predict timed writing test questions and start making outlines.
3. Homework help
Are you having difficulty completing your homework in English class? Bring it to the PA to work on it together while having a chance to practice your English.
English Language Advisor Services
Advising:
English Language Advisors are trained to advise you in the English language learning process. They themselves are successful Japanese learners of English who have mastered the English language and are ready to share advice and different strategies.
Often they help you create an English study plan and motivate and support you along the way to help you achieve your English goal. They can help you identify clear English goals and suggest suitable material and strategies.

PAのサービス
PAは主にスピーキング、ライティング、そして授業の 宿題を個別に手伝うことができます。以下は私たちが提供しているいくつかのサービスです。
1. トークタイム−スピーキングの個別指導
トークタイムではPAと一緒に次のようなことができます。
日常会話の練習をする。 トピックを選んで話したり、ゲームを使ってPAと会 話を楽しむことができます。
スピーキングテストの準備をする。 PAは皆さんが授業で受けるスピーキングテストを熟知しています。あなたと一緒にテストの練習をし、振り返ることができます。また、PAはあなたのスピーキングを聞いて、テストでより良い点数を取るための改善方法をアドバイスすることができます。
プレゼンテーションの準備をする。プレゼンテーションの練習をし、PAから本番のた めに役立つアドバイスを受けることができます。
TOEFL iBTやIELTSのスピーキングセク ションの練習をする。 TOEFL iBTやIELTSの受験を控えていません か？ぜひPAのところに来て一緒に練習しましょう。 PAはこれらの難しいテストについてもトレーニング を受けていますので、あなたのスピーキングについ てフィードバックをしたり、スコアを改善するための コツについてアドバイスすることができます。
２.ライティングの個別指導
ライティングについてはPAと一緒に次のようなこと ができます。
エッセイの推敲をする。英語のクラスのエッセイを推敲することは、ライティングのプロセスの中で重要です。あなたのエッセイをより良いものにするための方法やフィードバックを受けにぜひPAのデスクに来てください。
ブレインストーミングをする。エッセイで何を書いたらいいか迷ったり、何から始めてよいかわからなくなったりしてしまうことはありませんか？そのような時は、PAと一緒にブレインストーミングをしましょう。
ライティングの構成を考える。もしかしたら、エッセイで書きたいトピックはあるけれども、どのように説明を書き進めて良いかわからないことがあるかもしれません。PAはエッセイの構 成を考えるのを手伝うことができます。
ライティングテストの準備をする。 ライティングテストのトピックを知らなかったとして も、事前に準備をする必要がありますね。PAと一緒 に予想問題を解いたり、テスト用の文章構成を考え始めましょう。
3. 授業の宿題
英語の宿題が難しくて終わらせることができないかも しれないと困っていませんか？そのような場合はPAの ところに来て一緒に宿題をやりましょう。宿題を終わら せられるだけでなく、英語の練習も同時にできますよ。

英語学習アドバイザーは、彼ら自身が日本人 の英語学習成功者です。英語を習得しているだけ でなく、アドバイスや様々な学習方法を皆さんに提 供することができます。みなさんと共に英語学習の 計画を立てたり、目標達成ができず困っている際に 寄り添ってサポートし、学習のモチベーションを高 めてくれるでしょう。英語学習アドバイザーはまた、 英語の学習目標を立てたりあなたに適した教材や 学習方法を提案することもできます。
