The concept of the new SALC logo design is inspired by the SALC's mission and values.  

The main elements for the logo are: 

​

  1. An image of a tree; this means "Growth". One of the SALC's missions is to support students to grow as long-life learners. It is expected that through the supports that students get from the SALC would foster students learning development, even after graduating from APU. 
     

  2. An image of a brain; this means  "Intelligence and Creativity". It is expected that through the SALC, students would become more knowledgeable, not only in language acquisition, but also in intercultural communication and creative thinking, and thus, enabling them to face and compete in the real world. 
     

  3. A book at the bottom; this means  "Autonomous Study and Learning". The book represents both book as "the window to the world" and also as the root of the tree. The function of a root is to autonomously find the sources for life of a tree. Thus, this represents the  "Self-Access". And, the tree branches and leaves above the book represent getting supports; that a tree would get sunlight through its leaves and branches. Thus, it also represents SALC as a support center.
     

  4. Blue color for the word "SALC"; this means water or "Source of Life". It is placed at the bottom near the book to represent the book as the root is absorbing the source of life, which is water. 
     

  5. The round shape of the logo; this represents a "Center", just like the SALC is a learning center.
     

  6. Colorful logo; this represents "Diversity and Interconnectedness". APU has many diversities in languages, countries, religions, etc., but still manages to unite all the stakeholders. The SALC is one of APU's platforms to cultivate diversity and mutual understanding by learning others' languages on student's willing, having cultural exchanges activities, and connecting with other students who came from different backgrounds. 

新しいSALCロゴデザインのコンセプトは、SALCの理念（ミッションとバリュー）からきています。

ロゴの主な要素は次のとおりです。

  1.  木の形。これは「成長」を意味します。SALCの使命の1つは、学生が生涯学習者として成長できるようサポートすることです。SALCからのサポートを通じて、学生がAPU卒業後も学び成長し続けていくことが期待されます。
     

  2.  脳の形。これは「知性と創造性」を意味します。SALCを通じて学生は、言語習得だけでなく、異文化コミュニケーションや創造的思考についても知識を深め、卒業後の社会で活躍できる学習者へ成長することが期待されます。
     

  3. 一番下にある本の形。これは「自律的な学習」を意味します。本は「世界への窓」、また「木の根」を象徴しています。木が生きるための資源を自律的に探すことが木の根の役割であり、木の根は「セルフ・アクセス」を意味します。また木は、葉や枝から日光を吸収します。本の上にある木の枝や葉の形は、成長に必要なものを環境から受け取っていることを表し、サポートセンターとしてのSALCとその中で自律的に成長する学生との関係を象徴しています。
     

  4. 青色の「SALC」という文字。これは、水または「生命の源」を意味します。根としての本が命の源である水を吸い上げているという、学習者とSALCの関係性を表しています。
     

  5. 丸いロゴの形。SALCが学習センターであるように、これは「センター」を表します。
     

  6. カラフルな色のロゴ。これは「多様性と相互連帯」を表します。APUには、言語、国、宗教など多くの点での多様性がありますが、その全てがこの大学を形作ります。SALCは、学生が自分たちの意思に基づいて他者の言語を学び、文化交流活動を行い、さまざまなバックグラウンドを持つ他の学生とつながることで多様性と相互理解を育むためのAPUのプラットフォームの1つです。
